recycled-jeans-play-quilt

Somehow I love projects with (recycled) jeans, especially when they are for my dear little boy. I’ve made this play quilt with lots of old jeans pieces and some blue cotton print fabrics. The squares I’ve cut are 10cm (4”) and I’ve sewn them with a normal 1cm (3/8”) wide sewing foot. You may wonder why I didn’t use a quilting foot? Well I like to have a bit more seam to press, when using thicker fabrics like jeans.

It was quite a struggle to get this project quilted, as I used very thick batting. Also I used an extra heavy thread by Gütermann with a special topstitch needle. All in all it was worth all the heavy work. I love the quilt and so does little Morris, although in the meantime he has discovered creeping and is exploring the whole living room.
