As we don’t have a very big house but do have a lot of ‘stuff’ I designed a practical yet decorative storage cupboard behind and beside our sofa. It adds quite some storage space without being ‘in your face’ or in the way. It’s also a great place to put your drink or remote control nearby when your chilling on the sofa.
We made it with spruce planks from the hardware store and finished it with a couple of layers of two in one light grey interior wood stain and finisher. Because we don’t have a workshop or a lot of room to make these projects, we love to work with these standard spruce planks. Another plus is, they are low in cost compared to other wood (wood here in the Netherlands is quit pricey). This way we feel flexible enough to change things around without feeling held back because it’s made of expensive wood.
