For quite a while we’ve had five photo’s (by myself) blown up on canvasses on the wall in our living room. But lately I’ve started to become a bit bored with these photo’s and after seeing some great patchwork techniques on the internet I decided to ‘refurbish’ three canvasses with my favourite ones. The first one is made with an english paper piecing technique creating plusses with little house shapes. I’ve seen this technique on Mollie Johanson’s blog wild olive. She explains how she came up with this idea and even offers a free template, but I made my own little houses as I wanted them to be a certain size so the finished product would exactly fit over my original canvas. To attach the plusses piece, I first attached a piece of white flannel over the original canvas and stapled it to the back (so the original photo would not show through). Then I did the same with the plusses piece.
I love the result of this first one and can’t wait how the other two will turn out. I’m busy with the next one, so keep posted for that one!
